4 Lug Eyenut Cover
The 4-Lug Eyenut Cover comes with two 1/4" NPT ports on the top, centered on either side of the inlet pipe.
Single filters are the most cost-friendly way of filtering liquids. Single filters work for lower volume operations that do not require continuous flow.
Duplex filters permit continuous operation because flow can be switched back-and-forth between two filter vessels during regular maintainance.
Placing filters in a series allows for multi-step filtration. The first filter targets larger particles, and each subsequent filter targets smaller pollutants.
Superior housings are for filtering and straining liquids from one micron to over 800 microns. The most popular sizes for the baskets (also known as filter canisters) is either 4" or 8". The flow rates, pressure drops, and pipe sizes vary between sizes.
Superior Filters can accomodate a range of gauge and vent ports as well as cover styles. Housings can also come with optional pressure gauges.
The baskets and canister housings come in the SF-04 and SF-08 models.

Basket strainers and bag filters are usually selected so that the pressure drop does not exceed 2 psi when they are clean. Higher pressure drops may be tolerated when containment loading is low. The pressure drop data is accurate for all housing with strainer or filter bag baskets. When filter bags are added, total pressure drop becomes the sum of the pressure drop as determined below:
| (H2O) | 1 | 50 | 100 | 200 | 400 | 600 | 800 | 1000 | 2000 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| All unlined baskets | .65 | .85 | 1.00 | 1.10 | 1.20 | 1.40 | 1.50 | 1.60 | 1.80 |
| 40-mesh lined | .73 | .95 | 1.20 | 1.40 | 1.50 | 1.80 | 1.90 | 2.00 | 2.30 |
| 80-mesh lined | .77 | 1.00 | 1.30 | 1.60 | 1.70 | 2.10 | 2.20 | 2.30 | 2.80 |
| 100-mesh lined | .93 | 1.20 | 1.50 | 1.90 | 2.10 | 2.40 | 2.60 | 2.80 | 3.50 |
| 200-mesh lined | 1.30 | 1.70 | 2.10 | 3.00 | 3.40 | 3.90 | 4.40 | 5.00 | 6.80 |
Using the desired pipe size and approximate flow rate, determine the basic pressure drop from the appropriate graph above.
Multiply the pressure drop obtained in Part A by the viscosity correction factor found in the table above. This is the adjusted (clean) pressure drop for all baskets without filter bags.
Covers are available in a variety of styles from Quick Clamp to 3- and 4-Eyebolt covers for SF models up to 8 inches. SF-04 and SF-08 are available with over-the-top inlet (goose-neck) covers as well as the top-side inlet.
The 4-Lug Eyenut Cover comes with two 1/4" NPT ports on the top, centered on either side of the inlet pipe.
The clamp cover is available on our SF-04 model and comes with a 1/4" NPT port centered on the filter.
The 3-Lug Eyenut Cover comes with two 1/4" NPT ports centered on the cover.
We can accomodate most requests for specific inlet/outlet positions and configurations. Below are some of our standard configurations for our line of canister filters.
Superior Filter's baskets permit the straining and filtering of a wide variety of fluids to retain solids of nearly any size. The baskets are made in depths to suite the housing selected and are easily removed for cleaning.
Choose from the following perforation sizes: 1/4", 3/16", 9/64", 3/32", or 1/16".
Filter bags also come in many options, including the material, type of ring, size, and more. Our filter bags are available in a wide variety of mesh sizes which can strain liquids from one micron to over 800 microns.
Superior Filter can accomodate any of your needs. We manufacturer our liquid filtration systems onsite and can work with you on custom requirements, if needed. In addition to our standard filters, we can also manufacture basins, reservoires, tanks, and other system components that you may need to house your filters.
Superior Filters can be installed individually or as part of a multi-filter system.
Options for inlets and outlets can accomodate virtually any configuration.
Filters come standard with ports. Gauges can be ordered and installed on housing.
We also offer service and spare parts for liquid filtration systems.
Does your project need a tank, reservoire, or other custom-built item? Just ask. We can build virtually anything you need to complete your project.
Covers on our vessels require no tools, therefore, the cover is easily removed and the basket or bag is easily cleaned or replaced.
